How to Make Laung Oil at Home

How to Make Laung Oil at Home?

There are two methods of making Clove oil / Laung oil yourself at home.

1st Method

  1. Take two tablespoons of Clove
  2. Grind the Cloves with a grinder or crush with a pestle and mortar
  3. Next, keep this crushed Clove in a bottle.
  4. Add around 3 to 5 tablespoons of carrier oil over the crushed Cloves in the bottle. The carrier oil can be any beneficial oil like that of coconut, jojoba, olive, grapeseed etc. Make sure the Clove powder is fully immersed in oil. Remember, not to add too much carrier oil or else the resulting blend won’t be as effective as you would want.
  5. Now, keep this bottle in one corner of your kitchen for 7 days. Do make sure you cover it enough to be airtight.
  6. Shake the bottle at least once every morning and once every night. This will ensure the resulting infusion will have all the goodness of Cloves immersed in it.
  7. After 7 days of following the two steps above, strain the oil through a natural cotton cloth strainer.
  8. Clove oil is now ready. You can store it and use it when required.

But what if you have a painful toothache and cannot wait for seven long days to use the Clove oil remedy on your teeth? Well, for such cases, and also if you are an impatient soul, you can use method 2.

2nd Method

In this method, after adding the carrier oil to the ground Clove, you have to heat it using the double boiler technique. The double boiler technique requires you to use two vessels. One is a big pan filled half with water which will boil. The other vessel will hold the ground Clove blended with a carrier oil placed neatly in the water.

The Clove + Carrier mixture will get heated through the stem of the boiling water.

While you heat the mixture, make sure no water or steam droplets enter the second vessel containing the oil. That’s because you cannot store anything with water compounds for long. So, if you intend to store the resulting Clove oil for at least a week or so, keep water away. For this purpose, you can add a sheet of foil on top of the inner/second vessel to serve as a lid. After 20 to 25 minutes of heating, you can keep the blend away for an hour, to cool. After the oil has reached room temperature, it is ready for storage and use. Make sure the container you use is airtight and preferably made of glass.
